On Tuesday, April 25th, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing senior journalist Jafar Wazed as the Director General of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) for a third term. The appointment was made in accordance with the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Act of 2018, which allows for the continuation of current appointees under similar conditions. Wazed's contractual appointment will be for a period of one year from April 21st, 2023, or the date of joining.
Wazed was first appointed as Director General of PIB in 2019, receiving a contract-based recruitment for two years. He was later reappointed for an additional two years in 2021, and his contractual recruitment expired on April 20th. However, in accordance with the PIB Act of 2018, Wazed has been appointed for another year in the same position.
