The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday unveiled the detailed schedule for the 50-over Cricket World Cup 2023, set to be held in India in October and November this year.
In their first match on October 7, Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
Two days prior to Bangladesh's opening match, the Cricket World Cup will commence with a clash between England and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The same venue will host the final on November 19.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play a total of nine matches in the round-robin phase of the Cricket World Cup. On October 10, Tigers will face England in Dharamsala. In the subsequent matches, Bangladesh will compete against India, South Africa, and Qualifier 1 on October 19, 24, and 28 respectively, in Pune, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
On October 31, Bangladesh will play against Pakistan in Kolkata. In the final two matches, Bangladesh will take on Australia, in Qualifier 2, on November 6 and 12 respectively, in Delhi and Pune.
Bangladesh's matches will be held at five venues: Dharamsala, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Among these, Dharamsala, Pune, and Kolkata will host two matches each for Bangladesh.
A total of 10 teams will participate in this year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. The top eight teams from the World Cup Super League, along with the host nation India, have secured direct qualification to the World Cup. Meanwhile, two additional teams will need to compete in a qualifying event to earn their spot in the tournament, which is currently underway in Zimbabwe.
