The High Court on Monday ordered the ACC to probe into allegation raised against Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials including its president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin after FIFA imposed a sanction last month.
An HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the inquiry order following a writ filed earlier.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has been asked to submit a report in this regard within four months.
Two other officials are vice-president and finance committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy and former general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag.
Syed Sayedul Haque Suman, a Supreme Court lawyer, was at the court on behalf of the petitioner, senior lawyer Adv Md Khurshid Alam Khan was on behalf of the ACC. Deputy attorney general Saifuddin Khaled represented the state.
On April 3, Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the writ petition as public interest litigation, requesting it to order the ACC to conduct the inquiry into the allegation against the BFF officials of committing 'corruption, 'money laundering', 'forgery' and 'embezzlement of money'.
Earlier, on May 3, Barrister Suman sent a letter to the ACC chairman seeking investigation into the graft allegations against BFF officials. As no response came, he filed the writ petition.
He said due to the corruption of the BFF officials including its president Salahuddin, senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, and former general secretary Abu Naim Sohag Bangladesh football did not see any development.
“To save football, they should be brought to book. That’s why I have filed the writ petition,” said Barrister Sayedul.
