Criticising the attacks, cases, and arrest of opposition leaders and activists in the country, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the authoritarian government has understood that its time is 'running out' fast. Because of it, they have become desperate to give a 'death bite' on the leaders and workers of the opposition including BNP.
Protesting the arrest of Netrakona's Durgapu upazila BNP general secretary Abdul Awal and Upazila JCD president Masum Billah, Mirza Fakhrul said it in a statement on Thursday.
The BNP Secretary General said the arrested leaders were the victims of "political vengeance" of Sheikh Hasina-led government. However, protest will get accelerated if the voterless Awami League government's torture and repression rise against people.
Mirza Fakhrul demanded immediate withdrawal of the cases filed against the arrested persons and release them unconditionally.
