Detective Branch (DB) of Police has arrested eight custom officers in connection with 55 kg gold stolen from the departmental warehouse at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The arrestees are four assistant revenue officers of customs and four constables in charge of warehouse security. Besides, about 94 bhori of gold were recovered from them. The arrested officials have been handed over to the court seeking a 10-day remand.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) Badiuzzaman Zillu confirmed the arrests and recovery on Wednesday.
Arrested assistant revenue officers are Md Shahidul Islam (36), Saidul Islam Shahid (33), Akram Sheikh (36) and Md Masum Rana (33).
The Sepoys are Md Mozammel Haque (35), Md Niamat Howladar (27), Md Rezaul Karim (36) and Md Afzal Hossain (29).
