The Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Joint secretary of Bangladesh Awami League,Dr Hasan Mahmud, spoke at the Bangladesh Editors Forum's iftar meeting, stressing the importance of media freedom while cautioning against news that could harm the state or core consciousness.Dr. Mahmud thanked the Editor Forum for their recent statement on the Independence Day news coverage by Daily Prothom Alo, which he deemed "irresponsible and anti-state."

In attendance at the meeting were notable figures in the media industry, including the President of the National Press Club, Farida Yasmin, Managing Director of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust, Subhash Chandra Badal.
The  chief adviser of the Bangladesh Editors Forum, Iqbal Subhan Chowdhury, presided over the meeting.

During his speech, Chowdhury emphasized that anti-state news reporting could not be considered journalism, as the state is fundamental to the existence of its citizens. He was joined by several other prominent editors and journalists, including Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Sharif Shahabuddin, and Ayan Sharma.

 The speakers urged all stakeholders to work together to achieve the country's "dream destination," emphasizing the need to balance media freedom with responsible reporting.
