Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has tested positive for Covid-19.
Election Commissioner Md Habib Khan will perform his routine duties of the CEC in his absence, Asaduzzaman Arzu, media spokesperson at EC, confirmed the development on Tuesday.
The commission will issue an order in this regard on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Election Commission (EC) has unveiled the road map for the upcoming 12th National Elections.
However, CEC Awal was not present citing health reasons.
On Thursday morning, the CEC informed the election commissioners about contracting Covid.
He is currently in isolation at his residence.
