BNP complains to foreigners, but foreigners don't control votes, said Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday.

He made the remark while speaking at a rally organised at Shyamoli Square premises in the capital on Friday (December 30, 2022) afternoon.

The rally was organised in protest against "BNP-Jamaat's anti-state conspiracy, anarchy and propaganda."

Obaidul Quader said: "The government wouldn't give BNP any concession over the next one year. You've done much excesses, but you wouldn't be allowed to do any excess anymore. You've made complains to foreigners, but they hold the votes. Votes are controlled by masses. Only they can instate a party in power."

The Awami League general secretary said BNP has killed democracy in the state of Bangladesh.

"They (BNP) claim that they would reform the state. But, this BNP has killed democracy and destroyed the state. They have destroyed the spirit of liberation war. They siphoned off the state's money and they made the country champion in corruption for five years," he said.

Obaidul Quader said, BNP doesn't exercise healthy politics, rather they exercise sick politics. Those who do sick politics, can't reform a state. They can just destroy a state," he said.

Terming the BNP as the "party of killers," the AL general secretary said, "They attack police being equipped with sticks. They resort to arson terrorism, vandalise buses. But, some people have issued statement in favour of their release from jail."

Dhaka City North Awami League organised the peace rally.

The peace rally was also addressed by Awami League presidium member Lt Col (Retd) Muhammad Faruque Khan, organising secretary Mirza Azam, SM Kamal Hossain, Health Affairs secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, Dhaka City North Awami League president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and general secretary SM Mannan Kochi.
