Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader has said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has become impatient for power now.

He said this while addressing at a peace and development rally arranged by AL unit of Companiganj upazila in Noakhali district on Sunday.

Quader said, “Seventy per cent people of Bangladesh are eagerly waiting to cast their votes to elect Sheikh Hasina. But BNP secretary general wants to give 10 seats to AL. “Khai Khai party” BNP is now impatient to back in the power.”

Mentioning that people of the country cannot support corrupt BNP, the AL general secretary said BNP would swallow the whole country if they return to power.

He said, “Earlier Noakhali was the base of BNP. We break this base without doing any clash or shooting.”

BNP wants to foil the general election by lodging complaints to foreigners, said the AL general secretary adding that “Election will be held as per its rules. No election will be held in the country at the behest of anyone.”

Caretaker government is a dead issue and there is no benefit to revive it, said Quader.

Giving assurance that next general election will be held free, fair and credible election way, he urged foreign election observer missions to send observers during election in the country.

Noakhali district AL president Khairul Anam Chowdhury Selim chaired the rally while Companiganj AL president Abdul Quader Mirza and local leaders addressed it, among others.
