National

The train communication resumed fully after almost 14 hours as three bogies that were crushed and derailed in Bhairab of Kishoreganj on Monday afternoon have been removed from the site.

At least 20 people killed and several others were injured after a container train headed towards Chattogram collided with the Dhaka-bound Egarosindhur Express at the Jagannathpur railway crossing around 3pm on Monday (October 23).

Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad said all three damaged coaches were removed from the railway track, and train services were fully restored around 5:30am on Tuesday (October 24).

However, there was a huge crowd at the accident site on Tuesday morning as the belongings of the injured passengers were scattered on the spot.

Deputy Commissioner Azad said two committees have been formed to investigate the incident, and they will submit their reports within three working days.

Meanwhile, following a preliminary investigation, Bangladesh Railway said the collision of the two trains occurred as the freight train did not obey the rail signal.
